Use Case 1: Video Analysis for Offender Identification
This use case relates to the identification of criminal offenders using the LASIE system, more specifically functionality related to image processing for detection and identification of criminal offenders.
Use case 1 consists of three “technically-interrelated” scenarios which tackle a very diverse set of situations usually occurring in day to day police investigations.
Use Case 2: Accident at Construction Site
Use case 2 deals with the investigation of an accident that has occurred at workplace, e.g. a construction site. LASIE aims to offer all necessary technology and tools to fully exploit the available evidence data and to present this evidence in court. This use case has been specified after discussions with the Police of Madrid that provided the current practices followed by officers, the requirements for LASIE regarding exploitation of data in large scale and the expected outcome.
Use Case 3: The Missing Person
Use case 3 relates to the investigation of a missing person using the LASIE system and more particularly the speech/audio processing functionalities. This use case has been specified to rectify the lack of automatic methods at the disposal of the police to analyse audio recordings gathered from various sources e.g., phone calls, audio/video posts on social networks, audio from CCTV. Current practices mainly focus on manual search in small sets of data whereas techniques to automatically process larger amounts of data emerged recently and could be adapted to the case of audio recordings. The task in use case 3 consists of analysing an unknown audio recording against a large set of indexed audio recordings. Information to be extracted includes: speaker identity, speaker localisation, audio events classification, emotion tracking speech transcription and any other natural language processing that can help to extract evidences used for the investigation.
